Autumn Splendor Candle

Even though it's trying to cool down in Phoenix, we are still looking at highs in the 90's this coming week. The mornings have been simply beautiful though, and you can finally feel the temps start to drop when the sun goes down.... so according to Phoenix standards, we are heading into our season of Autumn!
This candle was one of the projects we did in our last Technique's Class. We learned how to "stamp" on candles, and in this case, we heat embossed the leaves from Autumn Splendor in gold embossing powder. Some of us sponged autumn colors on the tissue paper before adhering it to the candle - others left it alone after embossing the images, and still another stamped in Versamark, then an autumn-colored ink and embossed - it was equally beautiful any way it was done. We also played with shrink plastic to make the ribbon tags. I love how small the images became - they are too cute!

I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend - take care!

Upsy Daisy Wishes

Happy Saturday! This card was one of the different techniques we covered during my last Technique Tuesday class in May where we got to try out the Baby Wipe Technique. There are several different versions, and we used the version where we swiped the ink across the Whisper White panel. We finished off by heat embossing black powder using Versamark and the flower silhouette from Upsy Daisy. Everyone did a super job with this technique! I'll be posting one sample for the next Technique Tuesday class that meets on June 30th in a couple of days - check back soon!

Stamps: Upsy Daisy, Oval All
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Black, Whisper White
Inks: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Black, Versamark
Accessories: key tag punch, baby wipes, sponge, black embossing powder, heatgun

Thursday

Shoebox Swap - May 17 & 18

Hello again! I mentioned about a week ago that I would be posting about an upcoming event that I've had the pleasure of participating in a couple of times - a Shoebox Swap! These swaps are a great way to have fun with friends & family, get a variety of wonderful cards, and allows creativity sprinkled with inspiration for all the participants!!!

If you've never done one before, the idea is pretty simple. Each of you will design and assemble one card. Then you will bring all the supplies necessary to complete your card for each participant in a shoebox or other container (ie. precut cardstock, stamps, ink, embellishment). I am limiting each date to 8 people (so you will have your sample already made for us to copy, plus enough supplies for up to 7 other people). I will have a RSVP date, and will email everyone with a final headcount 1 week prior so you'll have enough time to precut all the materials needed for your card. There are a few other suggestions that I'd like to ask for each of you to make this a great experience. Think of this as a mini challenge! Let's try to keep assembly time for your card to less than 15 minutes, have a minimum of 2 layers on top of your cardbase, and incorporate 1 embellishment (like a ribbon, or brads, or perhaps a silk flower - you choose!).

Please RSVP by May 8th, so that I can email everyone with a final headcount on May 9th. If you RSVP before May 4th - you'll receive a free handmade gift from me at the swap! The cost is $3 to cover refreshments (drinks, fruit/veggie tray, CHOCOLATE!). If you need to order supplies, please let me know or order online with my website by May 4th to ensure delivery with plenty of time for you to prep for the swap. This event gets better and better with more people (let your friends and family know about it!), so hurry and click here to reserve your spot today - remember, the limit is 8 for each date
---> Sunday, May 17 1-3pm OR Monday, May 18 12-2pm.

If you have any questions, please let me know by using the contact page or my email at june@mycreativecorner.com. Can't wait to swap with you!!!

Tuesday

Plaid Spring card and class reminder!

Hello again! I had such a great time yesterday with my Flip Album classes - a BIG Thank You to each of you that were able to attend!!

I really love the colors in today's card - Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red. The plaid background paper came from the Bella Rose paper collection, and this cute flowerpot stamp is from Wagon Full of Fun. The flower was colored directly with markers, and the flowerpot was watercolored. One punch from the scalloped Eyelet Edge punch adds just the right touch on that main panel, don't you think? This card was a snap to put together, and I hope that you enjoy looking at it.

Before I forget, I wanted to send a quick reminder of my upcoming Technique Tuesday class next week between 7-9pm (April 28th). We will be working on 3 different techniques with samples to add to your booklet (if this is your first Techniques Class visit, you will receive your booklet at that time). For additional practice (and fun!), we will repeat the techniques on actual projects, so you should be pretty comfortable and confident in your new skills! :) We will finish up the night with a cute 3D project. Normally, I ask for RSVP/pre-payment a week in advance so that I can order additional supplies (if necessary) based on the number of attendees, but I have enough supplies for this month's class. Please let me know if you'll be attending by Saturday, April 25th. The cost is $12 and you can click the link and fill out my contact page here or email me at june@mycreativecorner.com.

Also, a little teaser here... I've been wanting to hold a shoebox swap for my customers ever since I was first introduced to them last November - they are SO FUN to play in! I am still working out the fine details, but am looking at Monday, May 11 and Sunday, May 17 for the dates. I will be posting about the requirements for this event in the next several days. This type of event gets better and better when the number of people who attend goes up, so please consider joining in for a VERY fun afternoon!!

Saturday

Flip Album Scrapbook Class Offering

(album front)

Happy Saturday! I hope your day has been a good one... I wanted to share a few pics this evening of a sample project made for a Flip Album scrapbook class that I'll be holding during April in my home. There will be several available dates/times offered for this class to allow some flexibility with your schedule, so if you are in the Phoenix area & want to come, please let me know which class you will be attending. I am limiting the amount of people to 5 per class. The dates, times and cost are at the bottom of this post, so hurry to get your spot - first come, first serve! Just fill out my contact page and type in your preferred time in the comment section.

You know, this project would be a fantastic Mother's Day gift! Actually, it would be a perfect gift for just about any occasion... There's (7) 6x6 pages to decorate (excluding the outside covers) - plus multiple side flaps to put lists, tags, pictures, journaling - you name it! It's fun to flip the pages & flaps open and closed - and the ladies who attended my March class were really diggin' the one I made with a different scrapbook kit! :)

(open view)

You will complete 1 fully decorated album in class and have enough basic supplies to complete another at home (each album uses 1/2 of a Simply Scrappin' Kit, pages 162-165 of the Spring/Summer 2009 IB&C). When you pre-pay for your class, I will ask you to select your choice of Simply Scrappin' Kit at that time and order it for you so that it will arrive before your scheduled class date. You will also receive the following at class:

(3) sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 coordinating color cardstock for matting photos/using my punches & Big Shot dies
3 pieces of Hodgepodge Hardware (your choice)
10 brads
(2) 10" strips of ribbon to tie your album closed
(1) 12" strip of ribbon for embellishment

In addition, you will have the opportunity to use my stamps, inks, punches, Big Shot, dies and texture plates for embellishing your album during class.

My sample album is using materials from the Sweet Nothings Simply Scrappin' Kit. I've added some embellishments using stamps, inks, punches, and the Big Shot/dies. Here are two closer views of a couple pages that are in my sample album -

Even though the basic recipe/layouts will be taught in class, each of you will have selected a different Simply Scrappin' Kit, so each album is going to be so unique and wonderful!!! If you are in the Phoenix metro area, please consider joining me for this fun-filled class! Let your scrappin' friends know and come together! Pre-payment/RSVP is due no later that Sunday, April 5th.
Dates:
Sunday, April 19 1-5pm
