Hip Hippo Ray!

I really love that sentiment found on the hippo stamp from SU!'s Pun Fun set. I made this card for my friend's daughter who is expecting her first child in the next few weeks... Having given birth to 4 kids of my own, I remember the anticipation and excitement when "The Day" was getting close at hand (not to mention the relief because you felt like you were going to POP!). Well, I thought I'd better get busy with a baby congratulations card, and I knew I wanted to keep it simple. I love the large scallops that you can create with SU!'s slit punch. I daubered the scallops to add color and set a couple eyelets with my crop-a-dile. I inserted a double pink ribbon and made a simple knot. I used a ticket corner punch for the bottom white panel where I stamped the hippo. I stamped the sentiment on the lower right corner, daubered the edges on the main white panel and colored in the hippo and balloon with chalks and blender pen. I added a couple of brads and mounted on the dark pink layer, then glued it all down on a lighter pink cardbase. I look forward to sharing more with you this weekend (dang work-week interferes with everything! - LOL)... post again soon...

Watermark and Simple Card

I learned how to create a watermark today for the pics that I'll be uploading here and to the website. Creating the watermark wasn't too difficult, but putting them on the pics is a different story. I don't know why! I think I need to take a quick break and try again. Otherwise, I'll have to go back to my own personal computer expert (DH!) to give me another tutorial. He's being very patient with me while I learn all of these new programs. Anyhow, here's the first pic with my watermark that hubby did while showing me the ropes - I guess I'll have to take better notes if I don't get it figured out! Update: DH did have to spend alittle more time with me and I'm feeling pretty good now that I know what I'm doing! LOL.... Photoshop is such a cool program, but there's so much to learn! Nothing like a crash course!
I also spent alot of time today looking at gallery and slideshow programs on the internet - there's a ton of them out there! Enough to make my head hurt and make me decide to go stamp a card or something and pick it up again in the morning. See ya!

The new blog header is up!

I guess I'm easy to please! DH made it for me and he's the greatest (although he said I'm his worst customer - LOL!). Blogger made it pretty easy to insert too - this whole process is pretty cool. I can't wait to add more to this blog and change it around. This evolution is going to be fun! Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Tuesday

1st post to start off my blog

While my website is under construction, I thought I'd go ahead and get started with my blog! Yep, I guess I'm getting a bit excited about sharing my papercrafts to the world (it's a bit intimidating, to be honest). Since I've never done this before, it's going to be a great learning experience. Most of the items you will see on this blog are from Stampin' Up!. I was introduced to their product line back in 1995, so I have quite a collection by now! They are always introducing so many neat things, and I've never been disappointed with the quality of their stamps, paper or inks. I'm looking forward to sharing ideas with you! Have a great day!
